Time is flying. I am fishing at Icy Bay Lodge within three weeks.
I hope I catch 150 plus lb halibut.

One angler saved two spot for Icy Bay Lodge on July 3 - 10 trip. But we couldn't contact him. No good.  We have to find other anglers to fill two spot.  If anyone who is interested in the trip, contact me.

I am leaving for Seattle tonight and leave for Yakutat tomorrow morning.
I will be at the icy Bay early in the afternoon tomorrow and stay there for two weeks.
Weather looks fine. The key to fish Alaska is the weather.
I hope I can land big halibut on jigs.

What a lingcod day!
I caught 64 ling cod, 4 black bass, 3 yelloweye rockfish, 3 halibut on jigs and lost 3-4 halibut.  I must caught 1500 lb fish at Icy Bay  Lodge, AK today. . I kept one lingcod and 4 black bass and released them all.
The ticket is 6 oz Al Gag jig with paddle tail.
I used 6'8" Black Hole Charter Special Slow Pitch jigging rod and JM PE8 reel. Some lingcod were small, but many were 30 plus lb.
Biggest halibut was 58 lb. We drifted all day. We are
going to anchor tomorrow to catch bigger halibut.

We went closer rockpile to catch black bass as we can not target halibut as today is non-halibut day.
But I had 103 lb halibut on 8 oz flat hammered diamond jig intended for black bass.  The haliut released safely.
I used 6'8" Black Hole Charter Special Slow Pitch jigging rod and JM  PE3 reel filled with Varivas PE5 line.
We limited out black bass (5 per person) and went king salmon fishing. King salmon didn't bite.
We are going 30 miles offshore tomorrow and we expect to do very well.

We didn't know where big halibut are.
But we still got 97 lb halibut on a jig using Black Hole Cape Cod Slow Pitch jigging rod and bunch of smaller halibut all on jigs.
Today is the last day and we are going to offshore in search of big ones.

Very good trip,  you did very well and even though I cannot go there it was very nice to show us some pictures.
If you can and we beg of you to show us some jigs that you used and maybe why you chose them.
Thanks again.🎣🌎

I used an C&H Alien jig on 97# halibut and numerous lingcod.  Have used this jig in AK and it always produces.  I also like orange Nomad Buffalo fallflat jigs and Striker fallflats in numerous colors.

I am pretty sure  Kil used an Al Gag; 6oz, with 6" or 8" paddletail. Watched him catch maybe 68 lingcod one day.  He got a nice 103# halibut on a diamond jig but had to return it as it was Wednesday which does not allow us to keep halibut in area 3A.

I used 5 oz Al Gag jigs with paddle tails mostly except current became too strong.
It seems the jigs get more hit.
