My bail while casting will sometimes re-close. Don't think it's me not pushing bail over. It reels in fine when bail is closed. A spring problem? Any suggestions or solutions
from what I know about Sustain/Stradic, "lifetime" robust coil spring is least likely to fail
did you get a heavier after-market handle knob?
even a bronze main may need a shim, eventually -- how worn is it?
when was last service? was grease on main/pinion too light / not enough?

Yikes opened up the bail arm and parts everywhere. Did not loose any but need a tutorial or somebody to put it back together. Need help!!

Two hands are never enough, but you will get there eventually with patience :D
Grease holding the spring and ball in the rotor, line everything up with the operating spring/lever combo in its holes in the rotor and the bail arm pivot, then slide the round section of the bail arm over the pivot stud while you compress the spring/lever in the rotor recess/sleeve (keep your third thumb on the spring/sleeve to stop it popping out of the rotor). Might take a couple of tries but you will train yourself eventually!

edit: I just noticed in those photos that the trip lever is laying over in the rotor, it actually points up at 90deg to fit into the hole in the bail arm pivot.
Does the Stella have one of those rubber ring thingies? I.e., the rotor size washer that holds it(rotor) in place when the bail is open during casting?
Like Phil's aftermarket handle. Sometimes the handle will rotate from the force of the cast and you have to make sure the handle is already pointing forward before casting.
I decided tp send it to shimano service center in Ladson Sc after talking to them. They just sent it back to me with the following untouched by saying it was made for Japanese market reel! What a waste of time

Take the rotor off and remove the auto bail trip. You'll have to manually close the bail from now on, but it wont close on casting anymore.
I do this on all my reels anyway. I hate an auto close bail. Tackle is too expensive to throw away on a cast like that.

A reel just under $1000 bucks — and a factory authorized service center can't help you to get it right?
Shouldn't be this much drama and non-support.
A few years ago, when Shimano was a fantastic customer service company — if they couldn't fix it quickly — they would just hand the customer a new reel. I have seen that done a couple of dozen times when I was doing Saturday morning service clinics at local tackle shops with the Shimano reps.
Times have changed.
I guess in this new world of mostly on-line shopping, supporting corporate profits, and slick advertising — there is no "click-link" button for integrity and honorable business practices that put the customer first.

I give up. Re-assembled bail system. Still sticky. Anybody out there that can fix it in USA. Stella 4000 A/B.
When you assemble the bail wire it has to be perfectly alighted or it will not close easily. Make sure you still have the click pin and spring installed. It helps to keep it open.

Just to add on to Keith, make sure the bail arm is not bent. I had a dropped one recently that I had to straighten because it was hanging up while closing. If the pivot points are out of alignment with the rotor the pivots are cocked over and drag on the locating pins. The return springs may not have enough grunt to overcome that friction.

After sage advice from posters. Plus Watching two You tube videos one on the stradic and bails and another by second chance tackle on bail spring types in spinning reels. Studying schematics. I was able to not only repair the bail but make it a lot smoother with Cal grease. Four things i learned the bail spring cannot be under load but in a neutral unloaded position, be sure the the bail side is on first and not too tight and the bail is not connected to the spring plate and also the bottom plate should be on to help hold spring seat. Push on gently,,,bingo. Tighten to allow no play check alignment of bail on each side to be sure its not bent (mine was which probably caused initial problem). Oh another bit of advice avoid Shimano service...they take your money and time and dont fix it.
