Title: Penn 712z with wrong bail! Where is this part from?
Post by: Fishgolfman on November 24, 2021, 09:19:10 PM
Got a penn 712z. It won't close and was locked when manually flipped bail. Turns out it had wrong bail as pictured! There should be no bend. This looks like factory made as no markings at bend nor will the end come out as its hammered in. Got a new used 712z bail and reel is smooth and working.
. Where does thus bail come from?? I looked at all the spinfishers 700 series! Mystery

One end looks like a Mitchell 300 and the other end looks like a Penn 712

looks like a bail from a 713 or 713z, i haven't seen one of those in a long time.

What did the rest of the reel look like (condition)? I think it looks like some how it just got bent perpendicular. I'm a little surprised, though, that it didn't break.

Reel in good condition. I think i figured out mystery. Since I don't have 713 series, i looked for pictures on ebay and mystic parts. Penn 713 must have had some bail variations. See pictures below from green 713 sold on ebay. Two different bails! The curved and straight one which fits the 712 and 712z series.
