Added one of these to the collection. Have any of you used one? It looks and feels like a real sturdy machine, but I can't find any fish stories about it.
The most basic light tackle trolling winch as you will ever find. No frills, heavy, slow, indestructable. Too heavy to be called light tackle in todays world. Too small and not enough drag for trolling in the ocean with a large bait. They have a great feel to them.
I have two of them around here some ware . They are set up for wire line trolling .
Same reel as the 165 and 167 reels, but a narrow version !

The reason ya don't hear many Stories about them as they were made before you were Born and were sold under many many Ocean City names. Several mods in Widths, gearing ,drags, and Handles through the years and just TUFF as Nails ol Turds...lol Many Reel Makers fashioned their wares after them .These Reels only fetched about 12 Bux new which was a LOTTA MONEY for the time and were the go to rig for ocean fishing till Penn Wiped them off the map imho.
Oh, I thought he was talking about a Penn 110 (1/0).

I went up a step and tried a set of well used 2/0, model 111's on a pair of lighter 5 1/2 ft trolling rods in New England for stripers and blues, moving down from 113H rigs. If I had a set of 110s I'd have used them, well actually I do have a set, but they live 1000 miles apart and are shelfies. I digress, apologies, the little reels were tough as nails, well up to the task but as Steve mentioned glacially slow on the retrieve. Normally troll with 2 lines out, when a fish is on the second man on the boat reels in the other rod to avoid tangles with the fish. When alone leave the boat in gear, let the rodholder fight the fish as #2 is retrieved. The slow retrieve was painful, especially alone, even with only about 100' of line out working the shoals. The 111's have been retired and back to my 49's as the go to trollers. For next season There is a Torium 16 in the kit, and a few other 5 or 6 to 1 speedsters I plan on rigging to the light sticks and I think the lighter PE braids should go down on the hot rods as well as the leadcore on the 49's. I got one. Building another. It could turn out to be one of those rare occasions when building one is cost-effective... considering what folks are asking for a kinda nice 1/0 Senator these days.
