Title: Wacky rigged Senko
Post by: jgp12000 on July 26, 2022, 09:08:08 PM
I have caught several bass over the years with watermelon Senkos. Once I saw a bass on bed and for 30 minutes it would pick up and move whatever lure I offered, finally I caught and released this 6lber on a  weightless Senko. If you have ever watched a weightless Senko fall it it goes back and forth in a pendulum motion very slow to the bottom.Yesterday,I wacky rigged a Senko with a gold crappie hook (for some reason all fish like gold hooks),I left it out in a rod holder just below the surface and 2 hours later I find a 2 lb bass online.I have even caught bass on cut bait,I guess like humans, fish will eat most anything when they are hungry enough. Catfish on a cigarette butt, marshmallows, and 1" chicken breast cubes mixed with dry strawberry koolaid and garlic powder seems to
always work and not as nasty as mullet gut which is my goto when available.

I once had a bet with someone that I could catch a Yellowtail on a Champagne cork.    I never did because I just never tried, but have no doubt it is possible.    I did carry the cork with hook in my bag for a long time :-[

I once tied a twig to a hook and got a bass to hit it. If they're hungry enough they'll hit anything. If they're kinda hungry they'll hit anything with an interesting movement to it.

I do love a good texas-rigged unweighted yama senko though, because they're not always hungry enough to hit a twig. Even with no sinker they still cast a mile, and like you say sink with great action.

'Plum with green flake" is my go to.

sidenote:  the bigger sizes of plain o-rings used w/ senkos,
are also a good size range for various smaller oil caps & screw-on handles
