Title: Trinidad 12
Post by: tunatangler on April 24, 2009, 08:12:45 PM
I just had them serviced at my local shop(Causeway B&T, Wantagh NY).
Got them back the free spools on both reels seemed lacking. They rechecked them, no change. Compared them to a New in box reel, seemed the same.
The free spool on these reels are really not great. Any thought on ways to improve the freespool?

chances are that the bearing were just relubed.  i would imagine that this would be standard procedure.  to improve the freespool at this point, you'd have to remove and clean the bearings, then lube them with xtreme reel + and reinstall them open.  then lube the "BR" gear (C) (key #389) with the same stuff and add a little more to the inside of the pinion gear and spool shaft.  lastly, back off all of the brakes.  after all of this work, i am hoping that you will see a dramatic improvement in freespool.  alan
