I have an Albacore Special with no number on it. It appears to be 540 or 542, since it seems to have a 5:1 gear ratio. Does anyone have the actual size measurement so I can tell which it is (height x width x diameter)?
542 is just a wider version of the 540.

I know. What I need is the actual width of each one. I actually think mine is a 540, I just want to make sure.
Here you go.
540 it is! Thanks.
The 540 is one of my workhorse reels I used on every trip.

Years ago I sent my 540 to PG because the clicker was busted... bought it used. They fixed it for free and included a new 542 when they sent it back! Later I traded the 542 for a 540, bought a set of 3.6:1 gears for them and even later sold them all. I sold my 255 and 251 too. I still have the 545 and 280... will keep them forever!
You might have sold me the lower gearing set on BD lol
