Title: Spooling a Tib/Accuplate 6/0?
Post by: pjstevko on February 08, 2023, 04:39:18 PM
I wanna put some line on the Golden Eagle and fish it on this years SOA July 3 day. I'm thinking it'll just be used for trolling with an old (brown blank) Fenwick 640 IGFA 50lb class roller rod pulling a cedar plug.

What line would you recommend?

I think you'll be limited by the rod to much more than 50lb line. Most 50lb that's not igfa rated will break closer to 70lb or more. I think I'd use 80lb braid for backing and a couple hundred yards of 50 mono

Trolling only, straight 50lb mono.

I spooled up the reel and trolled with it on the July 3 day. Unfortunately I didn't catch anything on it but I sure did get lots of compliments on it!
