Nice. Especially the paint job. Seems like it would be difficult to do. The "dodo"😀.

Advice needed; gonna replace some broke & worn guides on old beater rods. Some cheap-o's that I've kept cause I like the action, and a couple of Shimano Trevalia jiggers. What are some good insert materials to look for?

Greg, depends on how closely you want to match what's there, or replace the whole train. Fuji has disco'd hardloy which was on some of the Trevallas. The current aluminum oxides are good enough they haven't given me any trouble with braid, but I've been using Fazlite and Alconite K guides (I think this is what Alex has, here) lately on my distance Heavers. Alps, Pac Bay and AmTac all make good guides as well. I just don't get to use any one rod enough to pay 50-100 bucks on a SiC or SiN train for a medium spinning rod. I can't see it, and as far as I can tell there have been a few fish caught thru the years with rods not using these high-dollar exotics.

Oh yeah, Alex that rod looks decent, amigo :)

Greg amigo, for the old beater rods the fuji HN with ceramic "concept O" are really good option, they are pretty tough and that ceramic is basically the good old aluminium oxide with new name (supposedly a step upgraded) which is good for braided line.
For the trevalla jiggers on some models shimano used fuji MN and on others used LSV model, as my compadre John said, go with Fazlite, concept O or alconite, I have never bought a full set of guides of SIC or SiN ceramic but I have some tiptops of those, that high-end ceramic on tiptops are better for abrasion purposes according to fuji

Warning about those fazlite rings: they're definitely on the blue side of gray. So much so that a rod I'd intended to do red wraps and marbling on ended up with blue wraps and marbling because it stuck out enough that i didn't think it would match. Not an issue for most but worth mentioning.

checking the "tone" color of the ceramic rings is beyond my OCD, I think I can deal with fazlite rings over red or yellow wraps  ^-^  ^-^
for me they are just a unnoticeable different tone of blackish-grey, as well as the concept O, alum oxide, Sic, duralite, nanolite, zirconia, etc  ;D  ;D

Nice! I have factory wrapped rod. I use it for 25# bait with an Avet MXJ or lead heads with a TranX 300.
