Title: loose spectra!
Post by: alantani on January 24, 2010, 07:11:39 AM
finally got a fishing report from a friend of mine.  he hooked into a nice yellowfin that took a blistering run on him, then the line went "zing-pow!"  mind you, this was a reel that i had serviced for him.  my first thought was that the spectra was wound too loosely.  i took the reel to my local shop and had them strip down the line and repack it.  half way down, look at what we found.  it's a cell phone photo, so the quality is poor, but you get the idea.

spectra needs to be wound pretty tight.  that means a winding machine.  otherwise you can kiss that fish goodbye!
