Hi,

Have you thought of making stainless gears for the 7500 & 8500SS models?

I have not thought about them yet because I have a lot of projects on conventional reel are going on at this moment.

I'd probably take new SS gear sets for the (1) 7500ss/ (2) 8500ss & (1 or 2) 9500ss.

The 7500ss gears would fit the 7500ss and 8500ss. It would also fit the 750ss and 850ss. A different pivot and spacer would be needed for the handle.

They could be tapped as the new replacement brass gears, no need for a different pivot, the same pivot will work left or right.

True Sal. The older 750 and 850ss had larger diameter threads on one side and smaller on the other. They required a different pivot to change from right to left hand. The newer style gears have a stepped pivot with large and small diameter threads. If you change the old style gears with the new you have to get a new style spacer and pivot. I know you are aware of this but others might not be.

Correct, I just wanted to mention to the new guys on these reels that there won't be a need for a left and right side pivot with the newer gears. Yes they will need a new pivot if they're going from the 750 to the 7500's latest gears.
Some are sold as a kit, pivot spacer and gear.

No Mel their not. They may be brass or have a brass shaft pressed into an aluminum gear. I just wanted to point out that there are a lot of reels a new stainless gear would fit.  Bob
