Bill,  that's a nice selection of antiques.  They might work,  but I would leave them at home.  You'll get a better idea of what to use once we all start pulling gear out. Don't spend alot of money just yet.

Thank you. Yes with tax + shipping itís around $7. I currently do not need any other PENN parts. That is why I was hoping I could find it locally.

A good many years ago I built myself a boat rod hoping to double use for mono and stranded wire line, and initially built with ceramic lined guides, which ended up heavily grooved from the wire. Changed to Aftco rollers and it cured the problem. It was so long ago, that I can't even remember whether they were Fuji or not, but they certainly grooved and wrecked a holiday deep fishing with nylon.

Seen a lot of metal guides grooved with braids, even those ones with the thin sliver of stainless as an insert. For now, all braid rods will have higher end ceramic inserts.

I'm gonna get a couple more to put on builds. I'll keep one 9/0 as it sits since it is a Japanese market reel that the handle is on.

It can probably be sourced at a good local hardware store.

The trick will be to make sure the height and width will accommodate the plastic trim cap that goes over it.

Someone on here may have one ó it is the same nut for a few Penn reels.

It is $1.70 at Mystic + shipping ó so order some drag washers or other things along with it.

Best, Fred

Side plate clicker is loose on 980 so the copper colored circle does not engage spool teeth to click. Repair solution for this 980 side plate???

might be OEMed for someone else...  make 'em & forget 'em
Dick's Sporting Goods had Daiwa & Pflueger "exclusives" like that
none of the 3 S's service/schematics/support
figure out on your own which standard models use same parts
