....the line to bunch up on one end or the other on a spinning reel, instead of the line laying evenly on the spool? ??? ???

Check your thrust washer, the washer under the spool. You might need to replace it, add another.
Welcome, by the way.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

the spool has to be the proper height.  if it bucnes up on the bottom, you can add shim washers under the spool to raise it up.  this is normally a problem only if someone monkeyed with it.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Thank you for replying.  I repaired a Sahara spinning reel. I thought I pressed (very tight fitting) washer/spacer on the spool shaft. The line is bunching up on the high/top of the spool. Maybe I pressed them too far? I will try to locate another washer/spacer and add that to the stack.

Did you replace the spool support washer that has the ragged edge (spool ticker washer) and then there should be a couple of spool profiling washers, these should range from one to a couple if not 4 depending on their thickness and the installation by the owner for the correct line profile (either forward, flat or rearward).

If its too far forward of the spool yeh I would apply two more mid thickness washers and see how that goes for you, however I do like my profile slightly forward and not dead flat on my spools.
