Need Help Finding Washer

Hey Y'all,

Bought a vintage DAM Quick spinning reel. I was taking it all apart and found a broken brass washer. Any idea of where I could find a replacement?

Take it down to a good hardware store and match it up. Worst case scenario is you have to drill out one a tiny bit as the DAM is probably metric and may be a goofy size. Take a brass or stainless one and put a little bend in it and be sure to grease it.

these wave washers are usually used to just take up space.  you can often do without.

I have a few Newell Wave Washers. If they would help but they are known to crack, also the OD is larger then a penny.

That appears to be in the same size as Penn's spring washers.

Harry, I have a couple of reels from Dwight (newell nut) and a couple from me, sorry I didn't get a chance to mail those yet, I'll get them out soon.

One of the brands I specialize in repairing worldwide -- is D.A.M. Quick.

Probably have over 50,000 NOS parts for all models from 1950 up to 1990.

Let me know the model number of your reel -- your name and address, and you will get a new washer in the mail.

I appreciate your generosity. I put the reel back together, minus the paper thin washer, and everything seems to work flawlessly. Should I go back and replace it or not worry?

DAM Quick reels generally have (3 or 4) of these --

Main bearing shimming spring washer

Rotating head under nut washer

Collapsing handle spacer

Part of the drag assembly within the spool

The main bearing one and the drag one is all you really need -- the others can be left out with no issues.

wouldn't bother.  you'll be fine without.

I have used Mat's Reel Service (715-571-7544) for D.A.M. parts in the past. Those reels are built like a Super HD Truck.
