Hi all,
I picked up an International 965 at my second hand shop for $40. After tearing it down it looks as though I am up for a new pawl (#47) and cog (#64); the pawl gets caught at the ends which is what I am guessing has caused the cog to shear. There is a bigger issue though, the click ratchet (#66) was missing a post and break weight totally. The spool wasn't spinning that freely, i thought it may be imbalanced, so I removed the other three posts (no biggie, use the thumb!). But that is not the problem. I am guessing the spool has been dropped/damaged as there is a mark on the lip of the right side of the spool, and if I listen I can hear the spool grind. The tolerances are tight! Am I up for a new spool? Any other options? I am not at all prepared to throw money after it (full-time uni student with three kids and a mortgage!) so may have to abandon it if no good. But it is very pretty...

Cheers,
Andrew

I had a go at tapping out the spools flat spot with a couple of pieces of wood and it looks like I may have won! So now I am just up for the parts which could be a mission in itself. For a pawl, cog and 2 washers (#38B) I am looking at USD$10.40 + USD$27.10 postage from Scott's (AUD$53.56, more than the reel cost!). There is an Australian parts supplier who has the parts listed at AUD$25.30 + AUD$10 postage however they only have the pawl in stock; last time I rang them about parts they told me they were out of stock indefinitely. I will keep searching!

Last question, how do people remove the decal paint from there reels? Half of it is missing on this reel and it looks ordinary. Would nail polish remover do it? Would it hurt the finish of the reel?
