800M is really a 30# rod.  I wouldn't want to fish 13+# of drag at strike on that stick.  A lot of people forget that while the 700M is rated 20-50, the 800M is 20-40, and is a true 30# rod.  800H = BEAUTIFUL 40# rod.

I guess some of us just don't have quivers full of rods. I agree that an 800H fishes 40 pound nicely, but I have fished it with 30 pound line on the spool of the reel bolted to it and it caught fish. Did so nicely actually. The 800H doesn't bend a whole lot with 10#s of drag but it still doesn't bend to much with 13-15 pounds of drag. To me that means it can fish 30-50 pound line.

As the great Chris Rock stated "You can drive a car with your feet if you want to, it don't make it a good god damned idea!"  I agree it can fish 30#, it just most certainly isn't ideal for it.
