The cork drag washer is very good if it isn't broken. I've tried making a drag washer for it but it didn't work as well as the cork.

thanks handi2
I ordered a new cork/washer
I remember alan saying cork has to be dry.
mine was oiled soaked
I got the drag guard retainer off
I didn't know if it was left, right, or pressed in
it was right threaded
I had to improvise and make a hand tool and
glory be it worked
be careful if you come across one of these reels
under the retainer and plate is a super thin clear plastic washer
lucky me it stuck to my finger,

its all good from here, rest of the reel was easy, like penn ss
hope this helps

I'm glad to see what is there with the top drag off. I have never removed one when servicing..

hi alan
the reason i decided against it was, it has to be 0.5
c/f and the difference between the id and od isnt very wide.
i was afraid it may give way,i would rather have c/f in there
i could try 1mm c/f there after  some parts arrive, not sure it will fit
the single keyed metal washer is very thick at 1.92mm x 18.60od 11.13 id  (inside length)

i dont have any thin metal keyed washers, so i could double up on the c/f
i appreciate your help
thanks
ps,i think id better explain myself better
i am not advocating delrin washers in place of carbon fibre
nothing could be further from the truth,im sry for any confusion.
delrin has a place in very special circumstances
like under the main gear, also i found if 1 delrin was placed
under a multiple stack it will improve smoothness, thats it.
like the cork washer above,i was thinking of
0.5 c/f, 1mm delrin, 0.5 c/f, glued, cork is 2mm thick
just special circumstances
ps,  a bit of good news,i got the 1mm c/f  to fit
