When you consider that this reel is the same size as a 501 Jigmaster, , has a full alloy frame and side plates and drag washers the same size as a 113h, a quick spool change function, a 2 position handle, the price they can be bought for is amazingly cheap.
You can spend a lot of money hotrodding a 500.

I have to agree Basto. I am not normally a Shimano Fan, but the old Tritons are made well.
I have two 300's.
