Accurate Boss LD with the obligatory pinion support bearing stuck in the sideplate.  Tried all the usual tools, tricks (including harsh words and expletives) but no movement.  It didn't have much rotation due corrosion etc so I thought it was time to go full retard on it. Out came the drill, selected the next size up from the inner race dimension and had at it.  After a few rotations of the inner race at increasing speed the outer just wound out of the sideplate with unexpected ease.  Worth a try if nothing else works, I might even try it before I escalate to harsh words next time!

Edit: just had a thought; if you got really stuck you might be able to remove the shield and fill up the race with JB Weld or similar.  It might stop the bearing from rotating enough for the torque of the drill to wind it out.

Did i read that right that you were able to spin the outer race out of the housing ?

Yep, inner spun a couple of times at low revs but as the speed went up I guess the balls jammed in the race and out she spun.
Happy days  :d

Cool! "Brute-force and ignorance"(another term for "full retard")😝, is how I do stuff like that. Great tip!

Thinking more upon it (enhanced by the intelligence boost that comes from a few glasses of scotch) I suspect that what actually happens is that the drill cuts and locks into the inner race and gives you the ability to use the drill to extract the bearing like a big puller, given that the bearing had to be hammered off the drill bit after extraction.

Yes , that`s what happen .     I would fear that this habit would ruining the fit in the housing .    I get you got to do what you gotter do to remove a bearing .   But i also think that if the outer part of the bearing  wanted to spin it the housing  , it should have  came out by pulling on it .  Another though is if that was a blind hole housing , the bit may run though the housing ,leaving you with a new window to the inside of the reel !!  Just my thoughts without being there doing it .

Yeah, I can see your point, but a handheld 18v cordless drill won't get through a bearing race unless you fall asleep doing it.  It probably wouldn't work that well in carbon steel bearings, the stainless is soft enough to let the bit bite.  The problem is more with getting a grip on the bearing rather than the bearing's grip on the sideplate.
