Upgrading handle knobs on Calcutta TE 300

I would really like to upgrade the handle knobs on my Calcutta TE 300 with some ball bearings. Although the knobs can be removed with a screwdriver, the bushings are molded as part of the shaft, so they can't be removed. Any suggestions on how to add bearings?

You may have to just replace the handle and knobs...
