Hi,

Very frustrated that my Tranx went for a swim. It appears that my rod reel seating is too shallow. But I got it back. The dip was in fresh water for abour 5 mnutes. I greased the bearing and oiled the shaft. Now I just have replace the line - big mess/backlash.  >:(

The question is should I have the reel professionally oiled and cleaned or what I have done is enough?

Going to use electrical tape to prevent the plastic rod lock from backing off again. I assume that this is what happened.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

5 minutes is a long time underwater. I would service every bearing if only putting them in a bath of oil.

At least it was freshwater. All i get is reels dropped in saltwater.'

Open it up. Either let it dry out or blow it out and oil the bearings. You won't have any issues.
You know that moment when your steak is on the grill and you can already feel your mouth watering.

Yip, I would also strip it nearly 100% and clean and dry and re lube everything.

I mostly use those reels and have found they they generally get very wet inside, with sea water when boating or fresh water from light rinsing after a days fishing.
