Cardinal 4-9867

1st time this has happened to me the connecting link(9867) came loose on one of my Cardinal 4s. It's a 1 owner shelfie,but I still want it functional.There are some on ebay and I am working with a collector to get a replacement .He informed me there are 2 types of this part?

I've seen, & had, the part with the original brass block & later SS block, but they both fit the same. Other than that I don't have a clue what he might be referring to.
