Purchased this old rod at yard sale. The rod is a true temper 1754. I went to remove reel and couldn't figure the reel seat out. It doesn't seem to be threaded. Not sure if the rivets are factory or if someone has riveted reel to rod.

Actually figured it out. The reel seat is spring load. The rivets were a little corroded.

Got this rod back out trying to decide whether to fish it or not. Would like to find out more info on rod. It doesn't have power or action. It is very flexible.

Old timers fished a lot with what many folks still call "noodle rods".  Definitely soft.  They are really good for casting live bait, 'cause the soft action is easy on snap offs of the bait.  I've got a couple pretty soft rods & have come to like them, but it takes a bit of adjustment after you've used anything newer with fast action.  Can be a shock to watch the rod flex way down into the butt when a decent sized fish gets on.
