Made in France. All I can make out

STRIPER LOU

Not sure but it looks to be along the lines of a Ru Mer or Ru Star. One of my first surf reels when I was a kid.

Yes, it is a French Ru —

Maybe a Ru-Sport, early 50's.

Thanks. Saw it in a flea market. It still
Worked but was extremely rough cosmetically.

I know nothing of this reel. I do know I would of snatched it up for the price on the tag. To me this is a unique interesting reel. Cool find...  Jeff

Tag is for magazine under the reel. I thought about going back and offering a little for it, but didn't.

Fred, thanks for always digging up information on these old jewels. Now try to find me that L'AIGLON at the bottom of the page ;D

Best,

Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

The magazine price tag under the reel is about right for that specific reel considering the condition it is in. Ru reels are not uncommon.

Sal,
Good luck on finding one of those L'AIGLONs, and if you do, you'll probably need to take out a 2nd mortgage.  :o   ;D
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Thanks Tommy. Reel is down in Gulf Breeze. I am back in Arkansas. It was in one of those "box of reels". Think I will see if my son in law can run by there next weekend. I think the guy would take pretty much anything for it. It was mixed up with some real junkers.
Other than being stiff, it worked just fine. Of course, I need another "project" reel like I need another hole in my head.
