Hello one and all,
I found the website yesterday while researching a reel I bought. I've know about Penn reels forever but never fished them. My grandfather was  a devout angler and taught all I wanted about freshwater. We never got to the sea together. Fast forward 30 years and I have found the love (and time) for fishing again. I grew up in NJ, traveled for work and landed in the Bay area of CA. My wife, God bless her, bought two old poles with reels at a garage sale two years ago. The old wooden handled tuna pole with a LB 60, plus one with a 209 levelwind on it, sat in the garage since then. I pulled it out after a crab snaring meet and greet in SF. I learned so much from some great guys. After seeing how far some of the casts were from conventional reels I remembered the old gear in the garage. Two weeks later I am obsessed. Current total is 6 with two in the mail.  LB60, LB66, SM150, BM155, 2 BM160, Peer 209 and a 78 Sea Scamp.

These things are incredible. I am old school at heart. I love old Chevy trucks. I weld with a 1954 Lincoln SA 200. Courtesy is given, respect is earned. And the best place to be is outdoors.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Welcome to the board.

This is the start of an expensive hobby. I can feel it.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

It's cheaper then rebuilding old welding machines.

My mom grew up in Raritan and my dad in Somerville. I grew up in Hunterdon County.

Hi and welcome to the darkside - Chris from the UK :)

Welcome from Tennessee.  I too have the fever for Penns now.  Didn't know a thing about them until I rebuilt a couple of Peerless No. 9's a while back. They're a piece of cake to service after you do the first one.

I live up in Brentwood and work the South bay in construction. We may have to meet up one day.

i have found worse ways to spend 20 bucks. Met a guy in a parking lot (shady?) ::) Said it was a SM 160. Turns out it was a BM 160 with a SM plate. The rest of the SM came in ziplock (again shady?) ;)

I'll try to figure how to post pics.

WCT welcome to the Left Coast.  Looks like you have a great start with your rec not buys.  I've met a few shady characters in a parking lot  ;). A better bunch of guys you will never find than here at AT.com.   Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Next thing you know you'll be telling your wife those gold reels only cost $2.  You'll oil the hinges on the garage door so you sneak rods and packages in without being heard and Penn Parts boxes will start piling up in your hiding places.  My current favorite is "It's not mine, I'm fixing it for a fishing friend."

There's nothing wrong with a few "F's" on your record....Food, Fun, Flowers, Fishing, Friends, and Fun....to name just a few !
