I have a brand new one here for this season. I am curious to know if there is anything I need to watch out for being it has a gasket to seal out water..meaning when I open to service it at seasons end. Is anything done differently because of the rubber seal?

Nothing unusual to be concerned about. Just don't believe that it is 'waterproof'!!!!

Have opened up a number of Spheros and Saragossa reels and found water in the 'gearbox'. Admittedly they have been used in our rather extreme surf fishing conditions, but the seals are not that good.

Apart from that nothing to worry about.

Do you grease the seal when you reassemble?

It must be a new model. Ive never seen a Spheros with a body seal. You can change the non handle side bushing to a bearing. They are great reels right out of the box. Super drag and smooth reel.

Do you grease the seal when you reassemble?

Just a light coating helps keep it in place in the groove while re-assembling. Water ingress is usually through the drive shaft and bearings.
