I would like to know within the rod's stated weight range of 3.5~7oz is the range the 8'6" Cape Cod Special Nano Popping Rod capable how is in casting the lightest weights? Where is the sweet spot of weight for max distance? I see that the max drag is said to be 30# so where do you think this rod fishes best; 65# or 80# spectra?

I have ZERO experience with such heavy spinning tackle so any advice is appreciated. Expected gamefish is medium sized Blue and Yellowfin Tuna and lesser sized pelagic species.

Probably get better results asking your question at:

You can cast 2 oz lure with the rod. But the sweet spot is 3 - 5 oz.
You can use 80 lb line with the rod.
