Hey guys,

I have a curado 201e7 that seems to have a really week drag.

Just switched over to carbon fiber in both this reel and a citica 201e.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what might be causing this.

Both reels assembled the same (correctly I hope) and spooled with mono.

Also, was wondering if anyone happened to have any of the following parts for sale:

1)  curado 201e7 star (BNT3960)

2)  tld star main/drive gear (TGT133)

3)  tld star pinion gear (TGT134)

Thanks a bunch.

Are the spring washers good and installed right?

alantani

i checked and i don't.  you may have to go directly to shimano.

RatzReelz - I am pretty sure they are installed correctly.

Alan - Thanks for checking.  Shimano is out of all 3 parts as well.  Oh well.

Check the tension on the spring washers. Don't know why but we see a lot of E reels were the spring washers lose their spring.  I'm sure you know but make sure they are stacked like this () not (( or )(.

RatzReelz - Thanks for the advice.  I'll try and contact shimano about getting some new spring washers.  I have them installed as (), but out of curiosity, what is the big difference between () and )(?  I get why (( and )) don't work, but () and )( seem the same to me.

alantani

they compress from the center inside radius, not the outside.

Alan is correct as usual.
If you are just needing a couple give me an address and we'll ship you some.

q3fishboy

Alan - I get that they would compress from center inside radius, so, () would compress from the outside towards the center and )( would compress from the center towards the outside, but why would this difference matter?

RatzReelz - Thanks for all of the help and the offer.  I called shimano and they are mailing me a couple already.  Thanks again.

You may need a shim or bearing thrust washer. It will fit on top of the roller clutch inner tube. Once the inner tube is compressed all the way in by the drag star that's it. Adding this washer makes the inner tube longer resulting in more drag range.

you might hit the bearing.

The thrust washer is the same size as the inner tube. I'm sure you've seen them on the Torium and Trinidad reels. Being the same size it fits inside the clutch bearing when it is pushed in by the star.
