Sorry to revive an old one, but I am a little confused over the +10yrs bit.
My rockets have 01 05 12 25 and 01 05 12 38 stamped on the foot, I believe the 25 and 38 relate to the colour of the side plates (originally one blue, one silver, now both blue).
As I say its the +10 thats confusing me so could someone clarify for me please?

Thanks
The reel foot numbers indicate the reels should be more or less identical, produced in June and September -91.
The numbers 25 and 38 refer to production week. Couldn't find the exact schematic, the 01 06 and 01 07 schematics indicate the side plate color as "Silver Blue".
The "+10" is simply what Ken describes, they've added 10 to the last 2 digits of the year, i.e. 1991 => 91+10 => 101, cut out the first digit and presto: 01

Thanks for breaking down the Custom Reel foot #'s. I could never figure out what the 5 group numbers stood for.

Fishit 2

I have an odd one, just picked up a UC6501C as well as those numbers there is an additional set of numbers on the reels label/sticker that goes around the reel - UC6501 8849C
The reel foot is stamped: 060009 38

Trying to get some info on this reel, the inside looks more like a Morrum than an Ambu.

The "old" Ultracast (vs Ultra Cast) had an internal design reminding slightly of the Mörrum SX - i.e. the spool bearings are large and of different sizes.
060009 38 => design year 1996, production year 1997, production week 38 (September).
You can find the schematic at Mike's [Ambassadeur UC 6501C 06 00 ], page 19.

I remember there being a quite nice post on SOL about these reels.

I did a strip down a few years ago with a bunch of pics, Killerbug (with my permission) has published a google-translated version of my post at Esoxhunt-forum.

Morrum doesnt apply to these codes, the post is speaking of Ambassadeurs only.  The Morrum being historically new in the scheme of things Abu related, you should be able to get an answer directly from Pure Fishing's customer service on that series.

I suspect the Mörrum line uses the same type of numbering as the regular Ambassadeurs, so your s/no would translate to
09 => Designed 1999
00 => No revisions (in other words, as originally designed)
10 => Produced in 2000
/3 => Produced in the 3rd week (January)

This seems to be supported in the above link, "In Tight Lines 1999, we would see the first named SX series renamed Ambassadeur Morrum"

Seems that ABU are intent on keeping us confused, yet another change of frame codes I believe.
A post in a Swedish forum indicates they've reversed the order since last change.

Sample of new reel foot number: SE15C00
SE - Country of manufacture (AK=Korea, AO=Angola, SE=Sweden, may exist more country codes)
15 - Year of manufacture (2015)
C - Month of manufacture (March)
00 - Revision (original, no changes made)
Something like 40 BCs, mostly ABU. Still counting upwards...

ReelFishingProblems

I have a CT cage with the foot number 00C12SE, so I suppose it is

00 = No revision
C = March
12 = 2012
SE = Sweden

Seem right?

Another question. When looking at Ambassadeur schematics, it will be labeled "Abu Garcia 6500 C3 CT (09 01 Mag)" or "Abu Garcia 6500 C3 CT (17 00 Mag Hi-Speed)" and other variations of that. What do the two numbers in the parenthesis mean?

Thanks,
Nick

The first number is the year (with an add of +10) for the year the reel was first introduced.  The next two numbers are revisions.   17 00 means the reel was released in 2007 and is the original design.  17 01 would indicate a production change.

ReelFishingProblems

I've used that for my older Ambassadeurs and it is a great tool, it just doesn't work for my newer 6500C3CT

The foot number is 00C12SE. I like what Mooki posted, I would love something from Abu stating definitively on it.

I still don't know what the (09 01 Mag) means on schematics thought. That is really bugging me right now.
