I think that is professionally engraved.

If you were a tackle or sporting goods shop in the 60's that carried D.A.M. products — they would occasionally give you a reel with your name engraved on the sideplate.

Nice touch...

I have a couple — one on a Super 270 and another on a Microlite 265.

If that sideplate was on a 330, it was originally on a 280 or 285.

Any good trophy shop can engrave these sideplates for $10 - $15.
