Anyone got a starting point for spool bearing sleeve dimensions for a TLD20 to hand?

i have washers to shim two speed spools, but not single speed.

Is it not possible to cut in a length of brass tubing between the spool bearings then?

alantani

yes, cutting the tubing is simple.   then shave it down, bit by bit, until it's a couple of thousanths over.  simple, but very tedious.  your local hobby shop will have brass tubing of the proper diameter.  take the spool shaft with you and you can size it up.  i don't have a bench lathe so i could not knock out a bunch all at once, otherwise i would have.  it can take up to a half hour to size it properly.

Spool bearing sleeve. The question as to why I need it comes up quite often.  It often comes up when we are talking free spool. But the main purpose isn't for free spool. It's one of the benefits as a result. It helps balance the axial load on the spool bearings.  On reels where you are replacing pinion bearings a lot, you are probably replacing the opposite spool bearing at least every two pinion bearings. This will help you spool bearings lady longer.
