This is relative to ballbearings housed in cups, with the cup "stamped" on the lip with some sorta tool, sos it holds the bearing in.
Can't see why they gotta sell it as a more expensive and exclusive single unit (both cup and bearing)if the ballbearings themselves are a common size---yeah, I know, more profit for the reel maker.

This is from a old Accuplate I bought. Can the bearing be changed out without wrecking the cup, or bearing, or both?

yeah, grind out the staked portion and you should be able to remove it.  i use the cutting wheel of a dremel.

pros can do some mighty intricate/precise grinding w/ a cutting wheel

the rest of us are better off w/ a diamond point:

A close look told me: "dermal & cutting wheel--- no way." I'm gettin wiser and wreckin less stuff as I age. A fine triangle file and lotsa pulling force worked.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
