So I was in the surf today,and things were a bit rough.. anyway I was standing in almost no water,,and the surf came rushing up the steep pitched sand and ran straight up my legs and wet the reel fairly well.. So after it got hit with the water,it seemed as if the handle didn't want to turn. I didn't want to force it so I let my lure hit bottom and sit there for a few.  After about 15 seconds I gave the handle a push,and it functioned normally again,and I fished for another hour with no issues. Anyone have any idea what happened when the water hit the reel?

a single grain of sand could do that, if it temporarily lodged in the exact wrong spot inside the roller bearing

I am lost,why would the reel stop if a grain was in the roller bearing?
