One of my favorite reels Sustain 4000FA (1997) needs a new drive gear, but I can't find the part anywhere.  Any ideas where I can get one?

Any help appreciated!

look for a donor reel...  several models will work:
Sustain FA & Twin Power XT (JDM) are same reel
4000 & 5000 size use same body/gears

Zimbass

Part number RD4725.

Do a search on e-bay. There appear to be many available.

Terry.
Never was so much owed by so many to so few.

thanks for the responses!

Philaroman,  I will look for a donor reel if I have to.  Thanks for the info on the equivalent models

Terry,  First place I looked.  Checked again...still not seeing any.  Am I searching wrong?

don't know if its still true, but Alibaba used to be a den of thieves w/ ZERO buyer protection...

there's one weird ad in German(?) from a legit eBay seller... comes up on Google, but NOT eBay search:

contact jdltreasures1 directly, to see if it's "web fodder" or they still have the gears

In can vouch for this guy.

Great customer service and he is based in the USA.

ditto...  100% legit...  whether he still has the part, is the only question

P.S.,

I have 5000XT adapted to 4000 spools & (2) 4000FA's -- no spare gears & short on spools...  getting older & may not need all 3 reels

also have Stradic 4000FE...  pretty much same platform -- it may be possible to sub that main/pinion set & convert to the cheaper through-the-gear handle

I'll be playing w/ my sizeable, disorganized 90's Shimano pile this winter to see what's what, so get in touch if you don't find your gear well before Spring
