Hi all,

Got a JX Raptor that only puts out 17# on a full spool, max at strike, last click before the freespool goes.  In order of parts it is identical to my other JX raptor which has nearly 10# more drag at strike with the same settings.  Cant figure out where the disconnect is.  So far I have
- cleaned and serviced the reel, matched the order of parts to the shematic
- switched levers and female cams with the good reel (no effect on either reel)
- examined the male cams (look fairly close)
Before I send it in, any other recommendations?  Also, what should I expect if I send it in and has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks,
Nick

My first guess is that your line is slipping on the spool. Did you back your spectra is mono or tape the spool?

Yea it's backed correctly.  The spool isn't slipping

There could be a couple things that are going on with this reel. First did you grease the drags in the new reel? If so you may want to wipe out any excess grease on the drag washers. If not check the pinion bearing on the bad reel it may have been crunched before you got it.

Are you saying you get 27 lb of of drag at strikeon one of the jx's with free spool? Because that seems awful high to me

Thanks for the response, I don't have excess grease on it, and its 17lbs as indicated in the original post.  In fact I cleaned all the grease out and its low both with wet and dry drags.  Pinion bearing is still good and smooth, reel was brand new.  In any case Ive sent both reels in and hope to hear why it happened.

Thanks again,
Nick
