there are still many of these reels in service.  not sure what's going to happen to them now.

The original A series resembled an old ABU7000 clockwork mechanism - full of springs and levers.

The subsequent B series used the more typical sliding plate design found in most overheads achieving the same result with about half the moving parts.

The smaller models were completely different designs to the 700 reels using thumb bars to actuate a rotating cam ring.
