The spool on a 1001...is it aluminum or plastic/graphite? Cannot find any reference on this reel and in the History of Quick reels on this forum it does not state which. Just bought one and would like to know. Thanks.

methinks Fred mentioned (buried in other posts), that spools on 4-digit models ending in 00/01 are aluminum & 02 are graphite

Yes, the 1000 - 5000 are all skirted aluminum shiny spools.

The 1001 - 5001 are all skirted aluminum black anodized spools.

The 1202 - 3002 (only 3 reels) are all a skirted plastic resin material.  These are referred to by DQ as "Petticoat" spools.

DQ did not make a Microlite reel in the '02 series.

The 1001 is a solid and capable Microlite reel.
