Sl30sh Handle stuck to drive shaft

Could the corrosion be galvanic caused by two differant metals ? Steel bolt with an Aluminum handle? Bad design. I have seen this combination on anther non Penn reel. Had to replace the whole handle.

It's an extremely common configuration. The issue with the Daiwas is that the little black cap/nut retainer is rather good at holding salt water in around the joint, which sets things up nicely for a bit of fizzing.

This is what I like to do to be proactive and stop such from rearing its head again...

M/grease applied and packed in around d/shaft stopping galvanic corrosion that results with ceased handles



Also worthy of mentioning is the brass screw which fastens handle nut cap to handle arm, it will need greasing because it has a habit of ceasing in situ too creating another obstacle that could of been easily avoided.
