DIY Seal a spinning reel front drag and/or DIY magsealing bearings?

Hey all

Just curious if anyone here has tried DIY sealing a spinning reel front drag by retrofitting the drag knob with a thin rubber/silicon washer, o-ring, heat shrink, etc.

Was wondering the same for the magsealed stuff - can you just buy a bottle of the 'magseal oil' and put some in regular bearings and have it work the same way? On that note, I've heard mixed things about the magseal tech and that it's gimmicky. Others seem to swear by it.
