Has anyone replaced the old stock washers in these Quicks with carbon fiber?  Just wondering what thickness, what source did you use for carbon fiber sheet and how did it turn out for you?

BocaSnook1

I would like to know if anyone is using the carbon fiber drag washers in Dam Quicks as well.  Presently rebuilding a 110N, 330, and 440 and considering using the carbontex drag washers.

Thanks!

Tad

I replace them in all the reels that make it to me, but I punch my own.

Search "carbon fiber plate" on ebay.  It's really tedious, but you can cut them by hand too.

Steve I don't think the stuff in that link is suitable as it's impregnated. This is the kind of thing that is required:

or

I have used both of these products and they work well.

Yup!
I have used the ones you're showing on top from Eric with very little issues.
The only problem I have experienced with those has been in Adam's ( motive fabrication ) eared kits.
Those generate over 50 lbs of drag, so couldn't justify the failure.

Get a sheet of the carbon fiber like what has already been said I've got a sheet from this listing:

I think I got some of the thicker stuff since the resistax washers in these dams are rather thick. I've replaced the drags in my 221, 1001, 1201, 1300, and have a 110 from Fred that he did the drag washer in. A hole punch kit comes in handing I have this it covers most of what I need and comes in handy at times for making my own gaskets for odd ball gaskets on old tractos, and cars I work on as well. Some good sharp quality scissors, an exacto knife, and cutting board come in handy for making your own. If you have a dam quick super a motive fabrication who has listings on here makes a really nice drag stack for the super with titanium and cf disc.
