According to the Jack Erskine website, the smoothies were fiber coated with a dry lubricant.   So you don't want to put a wet lubricant on top, and sanding will just remove more dry lubricant.  It might be possible to revive them with the right dry lubricant if they are clean.   If you ask Dawn at Smooth Drag, she might have some info.    But Rudy is right,  better off switching to carbon fiber.

The extreme smoothies look suspiciously like Rulon.
