I've had considerable luck digging for Cod and Ling out of Brooklyn this winter.  I've actually enjoyed it.

Here is last weeks Cod

I am going to spend the wekend on the water if anyone wants to come.  Sunday on the Ocean Eagle at 7AM off of Pier 5 on Emmons Avenue and Monday!!  On the Marilyn Jean 5 I think at 6AM,<==

Both are farms and mudhole trips.

There is fish out there

mrbrklyn,

Nice catch for sure!!!!

Question, what are...   FARM & MUDHOLD Trips???

Terms I have not heard of before.

And, how you cook the cod????   Enjoyed fresh cod in Alaska, DELICIOUS!!!!

TANKS.

Cod is great on the table but doesn't fight much -- even the 15 - 20# fish we catch here come up easily, at least compared to a comparably size halibut. I know nothing about red hake. Can you help me out? I've caught silver hake in Puget Sound; they were mediocre at best on the table.

Farms and the Mud Hole are references to fishing areas about the Opening of the Hudson Canyon in the NY Blight

mrbrklyn!

TANK you for the explanation, but there you go again!!!  Using words that I have no understanding of them. ::)

Remember, you are dealing with a guy here with limited acumen!!!!

Hudson Canyon and the New York Bight.

Thank God for Google!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Bight  - A BIGHT is a curve or recess in the coastline or the break between NJ and NY at the Hudson River. - GOT IT!!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_Canyon   -  And the Hudson Canyon - sounds like an interesting place to fish, for sure.

This map helped me put it all together!!!

Our son lives in Astoria and I hope to fish with you on a future trip while in the NY City area.

Might have to contact you next Year... if I get back on my feet.
The only cod I've been eating is baccala'.
Nice job!
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

This year NH limits are I believe as follows.

Cod  1 fish 21" minimum  Sept 15th thru Sept 30th   two weeks only

Haddock  15 fish 17" minimum   April 15th thru Feb 28th 2021

Pollock   19"  no limit  open all year

Halibut  41"  one fish per boat per trip no closed season.   Good luck on that one Lol !!!

Wolffish  you can't keep

I think that is all correct but let me know if I made any mistakes. Thank goodness for Haddock, Pollock and Cusk !
