The schematic really helped me out.  Customer brought in an older 9000.  Needed spool bearings replaced among other things.  Had some slight gear noise.  Was able to use my home made pin puller (Per Alan, large pliers with notch cut in one side).  to remove the pin in front of the R/S spool bearing.

However, I did want to replace the Main and pinion gears but could not find the pinion gear assembly for sale anywhere.  Found the main gear though.

But turns out the customer liked the reel the way it was anyway and said he couldn't detect the noise I was referring to so he took the reel the way it was.
