Senator 114h pinion gear trouble.

I recently had the ring on the end of my pinion gear come off during disassembly. I don't remember it being 2 pieces and its kind of loose on there. Do I need to replace the pinion gear. It's a pro challenger 3.25-1 stainless gear set
