God Speed on your endeavors. What will you do to replace shark fishing?
The Man

Thank you!
Mostly I'll be getting back into flyfishing, but I also want to go after Pike and Musky.  Love those toothy critters!

Pike and muskie are great on the fly rod.

As others have said, best of luck with your move and don't become a couch (Idaho) potato. ;D

CHAD!!!!

You are going to LOVE Idaho!!!

Just spent a week in the Coeur d'Alene - Post Falls - Hayden Lake area.

The drive from San Mateo to Idaho is 940 miles, too far for me to drive in a day so we stopped in Bend, OR for the night.

Here is the backside of Mt. Shasta. Most never see this view, they stay on Interstate 5 heading to Oregon.  Only Lee see's it often as he lives just northeast of here.

Here is a lonely stretch of road from Bend north to the Washington State border.

Here is the mighty Columbia River, we are on the Oregon side, Washington State is on the other side.

We arrive at our Air B n B location, right on the Spokane  River.  It is REELY Nice.

There are lots of parks and beaches for all to enjoy.

And art work.

The local Waterfront.

Local eatry on the marina.

Plenty of Golf courses, if that is your thing.

Open and wide  streets.

We scheduled to fish tomorrow through this local tackle shop.   Great bunch of guys.

Lots of hiking to do in the area.

AND Jennifer and I enjoyed our FIRST IN-RESTAURANT dining since March 6 when we did the COVID-19 Hole up in our home.

First nights sunset, we go fishing tomorrow.

Sunrise this morning.

It is only 7 AM check out the area.

Here is the boat we are fishing on for the day.

We take off...

We put out the downriggers for Kokanee Salmon fishing.  We are fishing at the 65' - 80' level.  Using a small spinner with 2 kernels of canned corn.  That is it.

I'm up first, small, butt we caught more and they were larger.

My brother in law, Doug, with a nice fish.

NOT Gary's Red Cooler but it worked!!!!

Doug doesn't eat fish, so I kept four, ask Dominick how they cooked up, he ended up with 2 of the fish.

We then moved on to fishing and catching smallmouth bass, then pike in the afternoon.

We caught Pike fishing over these weed beds with large colorful spinners with big plastic skirts.

Check out the local real estate!!!

Osprey Nest.

Chad, you are going to like the price of gas - we did find it lower at 2.14/gal!!!!!

And you will need a chainsaw for sure!!!!   This looked like a popular brand.

On a nearby lake, Hayden Lake, this was the home of Bing Crosby!!!!

We stopped by the Coeur d'Alene Resort for a dessert and cup of hot coffee.

The local treat is called the Gooey Monster!!!!  And it tasted better than it sounds!!!!!

Chad you will enjoy your time here, it is also the home of Buck Knives.  There are LOTS of large name outdoor shops and local places as well.

Get out there do some fishing and post the heck out of your trips!!!!!

MO!!!!

Dominick texted me when we left San Mateo, asking if I was stopping in Klamath Falls, where Lee lives..

And I texted back, "Why?  is Lee buying me lunch!!!!" ;D

Kidding Lee, though we drive to & through Klamath Falls twice, both heading up and coming back, I travel like a Horse heading to the barn.  I just want to get there.  You can ask my wife!!!

Did fill up with gas in Klamath Falls each time, and thought well of you Lee even though I did not contact you.

Maybe next time????  BTW, The stretch of ground on Hwy. 97, between Weed, CA on I-5 all the way to the mightly Columbia River, is just a reel pretty piece of road.   Check it out yourself.

Idaho has some of the best rivers for boating & fishing...  30 some years ago, while launching my jet boat at the time in some river in Idaho,  a fella steps out of his truck while proclaiming,   " You boys are all gonna die "

Seems like every river town has its prophets of doom & damnation when it comes to floating or boating their local river. Some of the best made river boats in the world are made in the Lewiston area.

OH !!   & God's Blessings on you & your family this new venture... Jeff

WAYNE!!!
Thank you so much for the pictures and report on your trip!
We will be there in less than 3 weeks, and we're so excited!
It's been crazy trying to get everything ready and I feel like I'm forgetting a lot, but I know it'll work out.
I'm most excited for our kids  ;D  The place we are renting has large yards and lots of forest around it for them to play.  I'm so thankful they will be able to grow up in this environment!
Our place is a few minutes out of the city in a bit more rural area, but still only 12 minutes from Costco   :) and 5 minutes from the lake  ;D

Our place is the house on the right and I will set up my office/shop in the large garage on the left.  The apartment above the garage is occupied by a nice older lady that feeds the deer and turkey eveyday!

There will a a lot to get used to (winter)  but I'm really excited for this next chapter!

Thank you all for all of your prayers, support, and well wishes!
I plan to have the reel stuff up and going again once I get my family and work settled.
I'll definitely post reports on our fishing and adventures!

Chad!!

We trolled right in front of the lake closest to your new home!!!!   Caught a few I might add!!!!

YOU and your family will very much enjoy this area, we sure did.

And Wild Turkeys abound in the area!!!

Single birds, a few together or a flock of 15-40 birds.   These are the wild ones, not the Wild Turkey Liquor enjoyed by our own - the Great and Powerful Thorhammer!!!!!

My brother in law is building a home in the Hayden Lake area - English Point area to be exact, and I'll be there for a week of fishing each summer, hope to meet you and fish together while there.

Good luck on your move,

Wayne

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Cor

You should be a tourist promoter!   I sat here really enjoying your photos and looking forward to a holiday trip somewhere far far  away from city life!🚙

Had to use Google earth to see where it is but it looks just like somewhere we would love to be.

Well the big move is upon us!
Today I'm packing up my office in CA.  Tomorrow I'll be picking up and loading the uhaul truck.  Wednesday morning we head out... EARLY!
I'll be driving the truck, followed by my wife, father-in-law, and kids in our van, followed by my parents in my car.  Hoping to do one long day of driving, stop for the night in northern Nevada, and another long day of driving to get to our house on Thursday evening.  Lots of Plan B's on standby though, gotta stay flexible  ;D
I probably won't be back on until next week, but I'll be thinking about you guys!
