Dropped into a Pawn today...tucked away in a corner found this 70's era Daiwa
2500C ball bearing fishing reel (1: 4.8 ratio). Was on a fiberglass British Columbia
rod with a vintage Salmon lure attached. They wanted $25...I gave $15. Took me
over 2 hrs. to remove all the congealed desiccated grease that was flush with the
side walls. Has a great retrieve ratio, and, very good free spool (skirted aluminum
spool makes it light). The click drag is not very robust. Spring loaded main drag is
still functional. Doesn't look pretty... but, excellent mid-level reel from before Daiwa
moved out of Japan (Vietnam/Thailand ?).

I can see Dad sitting (upside down bucket) on the banks of the Central Main canal
with his bottle of Bowkers stink bait waiting for the Catfish to bite. His reel may have
been a larger version as this one only rated to 20 lb. test. He kept us in steady supply of
the tastiest of Catfish ! Thanks for teaching me to fish Dad. R.I.P x 20 years now. I
couldn't pass the memory.

Cool beans. 😎

Good save Chas....lots of memories I'm sure.  Gotta show us a picture of its first fish....Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
