I am having some trouble getting the bail off of the rotor on a new to me 6500SS. Any suggestions? The action is good, it flips over but I did not think to check for any auto-trip action before I took the reel apart. If possible I'd like to service the cap nut end. I can do the other end as is I think.

There was some very light verdigris on the nut and that end of the bail wire, but a vinegar soak hasn't helped. A run through the ultrasonic bath did not either. I hope I don't need a bigger tool than your household plier with some paper towel grip!

Thanks-

Rob

Maybe it's the picture angle but it looks dented at about 2 o'clock, could that be the problem? Might take a little more omhp with channel locks.
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Thanks Swami. I think that must be a photo artifact, it is nice and round.

If it is still stuck try to soak it overnight in PB Blaster. That works great to loosen things up. A little trick I learned from a mechanic. It won't damage any parts. Use a cloth or a rag with the pliers and you won't tear through the paper. Hope this helps.
