Yesterday I noticed a bass patrolling a shallow sandy bank in my pond. He was going back and forth much like a shark with bait fish scurrying as he approached them. I caught a 2 inch bream off the dock and cast it over to the sandy area. The bass instantly focused on the bream and took off with him.
I caught the bream with a number 10 hook so it was pretty much just a tug of war until the bass decided to let go. This occurred like 3 times until the last time the bass was actually so shallow his dorsal fin was out of the water and he finally got the bream off the hook. It amazes me how quick the bass would swim off with the bream. I read once bass have a 20 minute memory but this one didn't seem to care he was hungry.
