Model 606. Big Game 6/0

Here is a 606 with an odd homemade handle knob.  These reels came out around 1950/51, I've also read '49 so there's some drama for another day.  This example has 2:1 steel gears, 6 posts, and a very heavy spool that spins forever.  You can see that all the parts in this reel are heavy-duty.  They follow the same build pattern as most other larger Ocean City trolling reels. 

Very simple to work on.  The hardest part is setting the eccentric spring.  Lots of tension there so I recommend eyewear during removal and replacement.

This one didn't have serious issues other than that gorgeous knob and the stand needed some tweaking. 

Here are the before and after cleaning pics.  The last one shows a 605 "5/0" in comparison to a 606 6/0 in case you haven't seen them together.  I haven't until today.  I'll be looking for the correct handle!
