I have some play on the spool and was wondering if that's normal or perhaps I'm missing a part. The reel also wasn't laying down the line properly ( laying more line on the bottom of the spool ) and I'm not sure why. I took some pictures and was wondering if you guys could tell me if I'm missing a part? I'm not very mechanically inclined but I can't seem to locate the part 47B which is on the schematic . Is it there and I'm just missing it? Is the slight play on the spool normal? And are there any tricks to evening out the line lay. Some free play is normal , but is it up and down play or side to side ?

The line lay can be adjusted by that white washer on top of the gear in your picture . remove it to move the line lay upward .    your picture of the spool looks even , did you manually wind on line to correct the lay ?

I am not sure but that might be part of the spool nut .

The play is up and down. It's somewhere between an 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch up and down. The reason the line lay looks good is because I had the shop put on fresh line and he used the machine. Thanks for the tip on the white washer.  I'll try removing it and adjusting the line lay.

Did you put the same line back on : 20 pound for 20 pound , same diameter line ?
1/16 =.062 That i think is acceptable up and down play .

No, it had #30 that had been on there a while. So I went down to #20 to try for a little better casting distance.

Try using it just the way it is now , shim wise .    See how the line lays after using it , then make the adjustments .
